About Me

Hello! My name is Marissa Peterson. I am an artist focusing on design and production, lover of coffee, and plant mom. Before moving to Texas, I lived in California for twenty years where I grew to love art and even some photography. I love to explore the great outdoors and try new things, something that my capstone project challenged me on this semester. My dream job would be to one day become a character designer or concept artist for Pixar. In addition to art, I enjoy pottery, reading, buying new plants, enjoying a “quick” trip to Target, and finding new local food places to try.

About the Project

This project will be an independent study aimed to better understand and grasp the technical and creative work process that goes into the pre-production pipeline of animation: character design and concept work. In the end, my goal is to create a unique, original set of six characters that display distinct features and characteristics paired with in depth backgrounds that are relatable with viewers.

What is one piece of advice you would provide to new ATEC students?

Find friends who you know you can count on. I mean the ones who will buy you ice cream during finals week to help you destress.

What’s something that is always on your work desk?

Coffee. Lots of coffee.
